Yellowstone centers on the Dutton family and their battle to maintain control of a large Montana ranch.

The difference in locations is not enough to make some believe that Territory is not an imitation of Yellowstone.

“The territory is just Yellowstone with accents,” one user wrote in X:

Others insisted that Territory’s “Yellowstone-esque” atmosphere makes it “worth seeing.”

‘Netflix just released a new series called Territory that’s basically Yellowstone (I hate to admit it, it’s a great show)…’ another person wrote on X.

Reddit viewers weren’t as impressed, with one person saying that Territory “felt like the Walmart version of Yellowstone.’

‘The territory is like Yellowstone for The Hallmark Channel,’ another Reddit user reclaimed.

“I haven’t seen much of Yellowstone. Obviously, it’s had a very profound impact on the culture there and here,” said actor Sam Corlett. Yahoo Lifestyle.

“I suppose it’s an honor to be compared, but what I know is that this is so absolutely Australian that I don’t see it being anything like anything that’s ever appeared on screen.”

Another Territory cast member admitted to loving Yellowstone.

“In the sense Montana and the Northern Territory couldn’t be further apart,” star Sam Delich told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“I think there are similar themes, of course, but overall I think Yellowstone fans will love Territory, but I think it’s its own entity.”

Social media users weren’t the only ones to notice the similarities between Territory and Yellowstone.

A review of The Hollywood Reporter noted that the ‘soap opera show’ does a better job in its ‘attempts to weave the Native perspective into the narrative.’

“I suppose you could enjoy it for all the reasons it feels like countless other pieces of entertainment you’ve enjoyed,” the reviewer wrote.

A critic of Screen Center described the show as a “high-stakes saga of a family in crisis, with all the expected conspiracies, intrigues, slander, and occasional passionate hugs.”

“It’s a free space where anything can happen, especially with these intriguing characters,” the reviewer wrote.

“The sense that there’s a surprise around every corner helps make Territory feel like more than just another intriguing family saga.”
