A wealthy Nantucket family is about to have their lives turned upside down in the first trailer for the upcoming limited series The Perfect Couple.
Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber star as the heads of this wealthy clan, who are planning their son’s wedding, which is said to be the summer event of the season.
Things are going horribly wrong for Greer Garrison Winbury (Kidman), a world-famous novelist, her husband Tag (Liev Schreiber) and their children Abby (Dakota Fanning), Thomas (Jack Reynor) Will (Sam Nivola) and Benji (Billy Howle).
The Netflix limited series is an adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s 2018 novel of the same name, which also stars Eve Hewson as bride-to-be Amelia and Meghann Fahy as Amelia’s best friend Merritt Monaco.
The limited series, which had its UK premiere on Monday, is set to debut with its six-episode global premiere on September 5, and fans are already reacting online and critics are comparing it to HBO’s The White Lotus.

The trailer opens with Tag, confused and alone in an interrogation room, tapping on the two-way mirror and asking, “Hello?”, though no one answers.
Meanwhile, Thomas asks in another interrogation room: “Am I under arrest? Or can I get something to eat?”
Greer flips a piece of paper around nonchalantly as someone says, “They’re rich. Kill someone and get away with being rich.”
A family portrait is being taken as Will says, “We’re the perfect family” as the photo is taken.
The trailer shows their idyllic beachfront lifestyle as Tag tells the family, “We’ve all been under a considerable amount of stress… because of the accident.”
Police are seen cordoning off parts of his private beach and securing evidence, as Greer says: “It’s a total shock and we’re all very upset.”
The reporters ask Tag if he has any comment on the body found on the property and whether his wife is a suspect.
Thomas tells a police officer, “I would have thought our family’s contribution to the Nantucket Fund would have given us a little more discretion,” but the officer simply laughs.

The trailer then offers some insight into several characters, including Greer, who, according to one witness, “forces anyone who spends time in the house to sign a non-disclosure agreement.”
Tag is described by his stepdaughter Abby as a “DILF” while Benji is described by Police Chief Dan Carter (Michael Beach) as “hard to read.”
Will is seen shouting, “I hate them,” apparently referring to his family, while Thomas is described as “an idiot.”
Ultimately, Thomas proves that description to be true himself, stating in an interrogation room: “Yes, I take pills from everyone. Is that a crime?”
A disbelieving detective, Nikki Henry (Donna Lynne Champlin), simply says, “Yes!” – something Thomas clearly wasn’t expecting.
The trailer ends with a series of shots showing the wealthy family’s life, with Carter saying that the family is “used to getting everything they want, and the moment they feel like they’re losing control, they burn it all down.”
The final shot shows Greer telling Carter, “Even the best liars get really tired, it all gets too overwhelming and they lose their temper.”
After its premiere in London, the reviews are starting to come in, with Forbes calling it the ‘best crime novel of 2024’ so far.
