Dead Boy Detectives, part of DC Comics’ Sandman universe, follows teenage ghosts Edwin Paine and Charles Roland as they work alongside clairvoyant Crystal to solve mysteries for their supernatural clientele.
The eight-episode series, which launched on Netflix UK and Ireland on April 25, has proved a huge hit with horror and mystery fans, but sadly it won’t be returning for a second season.
Shortly after it was revealed that the show had been cancelled, the two lead stars shared their displeasure on social media.
George Rexstrew, who plays Edwin, shared his heartbreak by posting a broken red heart emoji against a black screen on Instagram.

He wrote: ‘I just wanted to come here and say how eternally grateful I am to Dead Boy Detectives.
“I met some of the most talented people I know, and most of all, I met all of you. You are the heart of this program and our legacy will live on forever in this community.”
