Nestlé has hinted that vegan KitKat could be coming to Australia shortly after the confectionery brand delighted fans around the world with the launch of the plant-based version.

One of the world’s most popular chocolate bars has been transformed into a vegan option, and many claim it tastes just as good as the real thing.

The plant-based version has a ‘perfect balance’ between crunchy waffle and soft chocolate that people know and love.

‘It’s absolutely divine and tastes good. It tastes exactly like I remember a regular KitKat, very impressed,” a British vegan food blogger wrote on Instagram.

Nestlé has hinted that vegan KitKat could be coming to Australia shortly after the confectionery brand delighted fans around the world with the launch of the plant-based version.

A Nestlé spokeswoman told the Daily Mail Australia that the vegan KitKat will launch in a number of countries around the world later this year, but has been tight-lipped about the exact launch date.

The new vegan KitKat – called KitKat V – has launched in the UK so far, with several countries expected to follow.

“One of the most common requests we see on social media is for a vegan, so we’re delighted to be able to fulfill that wish,” said Alexander von Maillot, head of pastry shop at Nestlé.

‘I can’t wait for people to try this insanely delicious new one. This is a product for anyone who wants something more plant-based in their life.’

The plant-based product was developed by chocolate experts at Nestlé’s confectionery research and development center in York, the original home of KitKat.

“Flavor was a key factor in developing the plant-based chocolate for our new vegan,” said Louise Barrett, head of the Nestlé technology center for confectionery products in York.

“We’ve used our expertise in ingredients, along with a test-and-learn approach, to create a delicious vegan alternative to our original chocolate.”
