Bill Maher has made a last-minute appeal to undecided voters, warning that the “progressive mind virus” could prevent Kamala Harris from winning.
The comedian described the positive impact Biden and Democrats have had on the economy, including aggressively fighting inflation.
But he admitted that so-called Christmas Eve voters were probably looking for more assurances that Harris won’t accept “every counterintuitive idea that comes out of the woke mind virus.”
“If he loses, it will be primarily because of that,” Maher warned during an episode of his HBO show Real Time on Friday.
Suggesting that there is fear among Democrats to admit that things “aren’t that bad,” he considered that “progresophobia” is part of the virus of the progressive mind and could be hindering their chances.
Bill Maher has made a last-minute appeal to undecided voters by warning that the ‘progressive mind virus’ could prevent Kamala Harris from winning.
“Undecided, they should vote for Harris because of the economy,” Maher said. “But undecideds don’t get that message because Democrats can’t get the words ‘things aren’t that bad’ out of their mouths.”
‘Lest someone somewhere accuses you of not caring enough about those who are struggling.
“But even in a good economy there will always be those who struggle with money.”
He highlighted how the United States was able to reduce inflation faster than anywhere else in the world without triggering a recession, a feat he compared to “catching a Space X rocket with your buttocks.”
Inflation has fallen from a high of nine percent in 2022 to 2.4 percent.
The podcast host noted that, for starters, inflation spiked after the Trump and Biden administrations spent $6 trillion to deal with the coronavirus, including sending economic impact payments.
Maher also quoted The Economist as saying: “An economy with a four percent unemployment rate and a GDP of $85,000 doesn’t have to be great again, it is great.”

In the same report he noted that in Mississippi, the poorest state in the United States, the average person earns $85,000, more than in the United Kingdom, Canada and Germany.
He added that everything that should be down, like unemployment, black unemployment, poverty and gas prices, already is, while things like the stock market, manufacturing, real wages, spending, saving and oil production are on the rise.
“Things aren’t that bad, but they could get much, much worse under the rule of a mad king,” Maher continued, referring to Donald Trump.
He also criticized those asking what the president can do for them personally, stating that the president is “not a genius.”
“It’s Kamala, not Kazam,” Maher joked. ‘It’s a government, not an insurance company.
‘Do I love everything about Kamala? No. Who told you that you can love everything? I wish she could come up with a better reason to be president than me not being Trump? Yes, it would have been useful.
“But let’s not forget, I’m not Trump, that’s still a big reason.”
Maher is a lifelong Democrat, but he hasn’t been afraid to openly criticize the party even as Election Day approaches.
