Car crashes into side of major Australian hospital, killing two
Two people have been killed after a car crashed into the side of a hospital in western Sydney.
Police said a woman in her 60s reportedly reversed into another car before hitting a pedestrian, a woman believed to be in her 40s, outside a multi-storey car park near Nepean Hospital near Penrith around 3:20 p.m. on Thursday.
Both tragically died in the incident. It is clear that the driver has had a medical episode.
NSW Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics are on the scene and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
Emergency services at the scene of the accident
A spokesperson for NSW Police said: ‘The driver and pedestrian have both been assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, they were pronounced dead on the spot.’
“The driver of the other car – a woman believed to be in her 30s – was left in a state of shock by hospital staff.”
While Nepean Hospital remains open, patients, visitors and staff are being asked to avoid the area outside the multi-storey parking garage on Parker Street.
