A neighbor has been criticized for leaving his two bins on the street and blocking part of a pedestrian crossing.
A visually impaired resident took a photo of the bins in Carlton, in Sydney’s south, and shared it on Reddit.
“These people have been leaving their bins blocking the crossing every damn week since I moved here in October,” they wrote.
The image showed a red trash bin and a yellow recycling bin abandoned in front of a trail entrance.
The two containers were abandoned meters from other containers that had been properly placed on the side of the road.
“It’s a fucking idiotic move,” the outraged resident wrote.
‘Crossings are intended to be safe for pedestrians to cross the street. I have vision problems and it is not safe to cross the street anywhere.
“Maybe a driver will see my cane, but this shouldn’t even be a problem… it’s also fucking annoying.”
The furious neighbor attacked the owners of the two containers (pictured) that had been left in front of an area that allows pedestrian access to the nearby footpath.
The post attracted hundreds of comments, with many social media users also left frustrated by residents leaving bins on narrow streets.
“Half the time the bins block half the road for traffic coming both ways,” one person said.
Another person wrote: ‘People here don’t respect others with bins. I live in the only house on a street full of apartment blocks and the idiots next door put their bins in front of my driveway with impunity.’
“It shouldn’t be that hard to place the bins a little closer to each other and out of the way,” a third added.
Others urged the resident to inform his council about the issue.
“Report it directly to your local council… You can probably do this through their website or by calling them,” one person wrote.
Some said the bins may not have been placed in front of the footpath “deliberately” and said the problem could have occurred due to limited space on the road.
‘I don’t think it’s deliberate. They have spaced the containers well next to each other so that the truck’s teeth will pick them up. “Looks like space is at a premium,” one person wrote.
“Give them a chance to correct themselves and if not, then you can escalate the situation,” another person wrote.
Dozens of commenters suggested leaving a note inside the dumpster owner’s mailbox in an effort to fix the problem.
According to its website, Georges River Council advises residents to “avoid obstructing footpaths or driveways.”
Residents are also urged not to place waste collection items on the road or in the sewers.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted the council for further comment.
