Negotiations with Eberl? Gladbach keen on Schalke professional

Borussia Mönchengladbach has apparently put out feelers for a professional who is currently lacing up his football boots for FC Schalke 04. If the Royal Blues were relegated, the personal details could become concrete – and ex-sports director Max Eberl would then be Gladbach’s contact person.

As reported by “Sport Bild”, Borussia Mönchengladbach is working intensively on signing midfielder Tom Krauss, who is currently on loan from RB Leipzig to FC Schalke 04.

Sports director Roland Virkus recently took a close look at the U21 national player in the Knappen’s 5-2 home win against Hertha BSC. Krauss, who is actually a regular at Schalke, only came on as a substitute for 25 minutes in the important success in the relegation battle. But that shouldn’t have detracted from Gladbach’s interest.

The problem from Borussia’s point of view: Krauss is only available in the event of Schalke relegation. If the district club succeeds in staying up, there is a purchase obligation of three million euros, plus possible bonuses of 1.5 million euros.

Gladbach before transfer negotiations with Max Eberl?

According to the report, Schalke plans to work with Krauss if Bundesliga football is to be played in the Veltins Arena in the coming season. So Gladbach would then be out of the race.

The situation would look different, however, if the S04 had to start the bitter journey into second class again. Then Gladbach might get a chance at Krauss. Explosive: In this case, Virkus would have to conduct negotiations with his predecessor Max Eberl. The 49-year-old now steers the fortunes of RB Leipzig as sports director.

Allegedly, Borussia is not unrivaled when it comes to courting Krauss. FSV Mainz 05 is also said to have kept an eye on the 21-year-old. In addition, there should be interest from England.

At RB Leipzig, Krauss probably has no future despite his appealing performances at Schalke. Marco Rose’s team is already set up too lavishly in central midfield.
