Neale hurts shoulder at Lions AFL practice

Brisbane Lions star Lachie Neale has left Lions training early while holding his right shoulder.

The Brownlow medalist fell on the Gabba grass during Tuesday’s session and went straight to the chambers instead of staying on the ground with his teammates.

Neale did not appear to be in great distress as he left the field, but the incident is a concern after the midfielder’s injury-ridden 2021 AFL season.

Neale missed games earlier this season due to back and ankle problems and injured the same shoulder early in the Lions’ recent game against Geelong before finishing the game.

He then missed Brisbane’s win over Adelaide with a calf problem before returning to play in last weekend’s shocking loss to St Kilda.

Meanwhile, forward Lincoln McCarthy has re-signed with the Lions for an additional three seasons, leaving him with the Gabba until the end of 2024.
