NBCUniversal Ad Sales Chief Linda Yaccarino is reportedly in talks to become Twitter’s next CEO

Date:

Twitter’s next CEO is likely to be a familiar face to advertisers.

NBCUniversal’s head of advertising sales, Linda Yaccarino, is in talks for the role of CEO at the social media company, now owned by Elon Musk, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Yaccarino is currently scheduled to take the stage Monday morning at NBCU’s pre-presentation at Radio City Music Hall. “Linda is rehearsing back-to-back for Monday’s upfront,” a company spokesperson told me. The Hollywood Reporter.

Yaccarino interviewed Musk at an advertising event three weeks ago, and last week NBCUniversal announced a new content deal with Twitter that will see the social site host content from the 2024 Paris Olympics, including an exclusive live show.

Musk said earlier on Thursday that he was “excited to announce that I hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will start in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to exec chair & CTO, overseeing products, software and sysops.”

He did not name the new CEO.

A seasoned advertising executive, Yaccarino has directed NBCU’s advertising operations for the past ten years and prior to that spent nearly 20 years as an advertising executive for Turner’s former cable channels. In February she added group chairman of management agency YMU to her range of duties. YMU’s roster of talent includes The Rolling Stones, Emily Ratajkowski, Steve Aoki and such British TV talent as Ant & Dec and Amanda Holden.

Musk took over as CEO of Twitter in October 2022, after acquiring the company for $44 billion.
