Basketball fans have slammed NBA pundit Shams Charania after he immediately broke the news of Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the US presidential race on Sunday.
Shams, who covers contract extensions, free agent signings and trade deals for The Athletic, surprised many of his followers on social media when he broke the news about the latest update within the Democratic Party ahead of the November election.
“Joe Biden has dropped out of the US presidential race,” Shams posted on X around 3 p.m. ET.
“How does this affect LeBron’s legacy?” one Lakers parody account responded.
“Shams is ruining the presidential election and now this is getting out of hand,” wrote another user.
Shams Charania, an NBA insider for The Athletic, broke the news that Joe Biden would be the President of the United States in the November presidential election, much to the surprise of many NBA fans on social media.
Shams was trolled on fan accounts and parodies of several NBA teams, and LeBron is a “fan” on X
“How does this affect the Knicks’ point guard rotation?” one Knicks fan account asked.
One user shared that “finding this out from Shams is hilarious.”
Someone else pointed out that ‘Shams went from ruining elections to ruining elections.’
Biden’s decision to withdraw from the US presidential race comes after a golf pro at one of Donald Trump’s courses said the former president hit a perfect 210-yard four-iron to within 10 feet of a hole.
“He needed to sink that putt to win. Do you believe he did it? You can believe he did it,” John Nieporte said at the Republican National Convention (RNC), according to the website Huffington Post.
Donald Trump has claimed to be a better golfer than Biden on several previous occasions.
Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, later claimed that Trump had “an incredible golf swing” and could even keep up with professional golfers.
“He can kick some of those guys’ asses,” Habba said.
Biden once claimed he had been disabled by the age of six while he was vice president (which Trump mocked) before calling his political opponent “a child.”
Earlier this month, Trump emerged as a surprise outside candidate to be the US Ryder Cup captain after Tiger Woods reportedly turned down the role.
