BREAKING NEWS: Body found looking for Naya Rivera, six days after the Glee actress disappeared with her four-year-old son during a day out
A body was found in the search for missing Glee actress Naya Rivera who disappeared from a California lake and was feared drowned six days ago.
The authorities have yet to formally confirm that the body is that of the 33-year-old.
Rivera disappeared on Lake Piru on Wednesday after taking a pontoon boat out on the water with her four-year-old son Josey.
Josey was found alone, sleeping on the boat, by another group who saw it floating.
Naya Rivera sent a photo of her four-year-old son Josey to a family member 90 minutes before he was found on their pontoon boat showing the bay they had sailed to
Search and rescue teams have combed the lake for the past six days on the actress’ tracks, but struggled with poor visibility and the sheer size of the lake.
On Monday, they entered a bay where the actress had taken a photo of Josey and sent it to a family member 90 minutes before he was found on the boat.
They focused their search on that bay on Monday.
The actress grew up 20 miles from the lake and was familiar with it, police sources said last week.
She considered it her ‘getaway’, despite being known for its rip currents and icy waters that swimmers can overpower.
A news conference on Monday’s discovery is scheduled at 2:00 PM local time.
On Sunday, Naya’s distraught family was spotted at the lake trying to help investigators search for her.
Josey told the police that his mother “jumped in” and never surfaced again.
He was wearing a life jacket, but the actress’s was on the pontoon when it was repaired.
