It’s no secret that Sony wants to invest more in live-service games. And it looks like The Last of Us’ multiplayer project will be one of the publisher’s first live-service titles. Developer Naughty Dog has hired Anders Howard, the designer of the Fortnite Battle Pass.
Howard himself dropped the news of his new job on Twitter. The best man is clearly looking forward to it, as he posted a photo of himself in Naughty Dog’s offices with the caption “Hell Yeah!”

Also on his LinkedIn account can be read that Howard started in November as a monetization designer at the studio. Probably to provide the new online multiplayer of The Last of Us with valuable updates. The man spent seven years at Epic Games in the past, where he “helped fine-tune Fortnite’s battle pass progression strategy.” And that for about 12 seasons. The man also helped design a battle pass for Rocket League and Fall Guys.
Well, there’s no official confirmation that Howard is working on the online part of The Last of Us, but his position and employer leave little to the imagination. Although it could of course also be an Uncharted multiplayer. Or even a completely new project…
