- Mitch Kenny has responded to the Nathan Cleary rumours
- Cleary is said to be keen on a move to the UK Super League
- He is currently dating UK-based Matildas star Mary Fowler.
Nathan Cleary’s teammate Mitch Kenny has responded to the explosive rumour that rocked the NRL this week.
According to News Corp, Cleary is reportedly looking to leave Penrith and wants to move to the UK Super League, where he can be closer to his girlfriend, Mary Fowler, who is based in England.
Fowler, who plays as a striker for the Matildas, represents Manchester City and the pair have been in a long-distance relationship since their romance was first revealed by Daily Mail Australia last November.
Penrith bosses maintain Cleary has not expressed a desire to leave the club and a move to Britain seems a far-fetched possibility, and Kenny leaned into that when discussing the speculation on NRL360 on Wednesday night.
Asked if he had any thoughts on the speculation, he joked: ‘Yeah, three years at Warrington.
“I realized it too late, I didn’t know it was circulating, so I kind of missed the boat.”
Warrington is coached by NRL legend and South Sydney Rabbitohs great Sam Burgess.

Cleary is reportedly considering leaving Penrith Panthers to play in the UK Super League
Reports claim he wants to be closer to his girlfriend Mary Fowler, who lives in England.
A partnership between Burgess and Cleary, then, would surely create a stir in football circles.
The latest rumour comes after Cleary’s Panthers teammate Brian To’o joked that the pair are now “engaged” during a racy post-match interview earlier this month.
Fox Sports asked To’o why Panthers fans were cheering so loudly after the Panthers’ 18-12 win over the Titans.
Cleary, who has been recovering from injury, was in attendance and host Yvonne Sampson wondered if the superstar scrum-half had angered the crowd.
To’o joked that fans were cheering for Cleary and his girlfriend Fowler, who are now “engaged.”
‘They’re chilling out and everyone’s going crazy. They’re here for Nathan and Mary, so congratulations to them, I think they got engaged.
“Congratulations to them.”
