Nate Diaz has a few ideas for next bout – but a Jorge Masvidal trilogy isn’t one of them

ANAHEIM, California – Nate Diaz He is always planning ahead.

Following his majority decision victory in a boxing match against Jorge Masvidal On Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, Diaz had several names in his head, all of them fighters he had fought in the past.

During his in-ring interview with Brian Campbell, Diaz mentioned Jake Paul as an idea for an upcoming opponent, but later clarified why his former foe’s name was mentioned first.

“(Paul) was in my head that I would like to kick his ass,” Diaz told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a post-fight press conference. “I would like to get a win against Leon Edwardswho is the best fighter in the world right now at 170.”

Diaz’s next move is unclear. Will it be boxing or MMA? No one knows. But one thing is certain: Diaz wants the fights that will earn him more respect and more money.

“The only thing I have in my head is that whoever thinks he is very good can get beaten,” Diaz said.

However, one fight that doesn’t interest Diaz is the one he just had.

Despite their head-to-head record in combat sports being tied at one win apiece, Diaz rejects the idea that now is the time for a third meeting with Masvidal.

“That’s another situation we’ll deal with later,” Diaz said. “I think we’re 1-0 on each other. He won in MMA and I won in boxing. Who knows what’s going to happen with him… but at some point, something will happen.”
