A Sydney home that potential buyers couldn’t physically inspect because it was missing almost the entire roof has sold for nearly $3 million.

The three-bedroom house at 89 Fitzroy St in Sydney’s inner west suburb of Burwood sold for $2.75 million earlier this month.

This despite the fact that its roof was almost completely collapsed, having boarded up the windows and having a patio overgrown with weeds.

Interested buyers were informed that they could not set foot inside the home.

“Please note: no internal inspections will be permitted as the property does not meet health and safety requirements,” the listing said.

Instead, the property was advertised as a “land value opportunity in a prime location.”

“Available for the first time in over 60 years, and now offering a unique opportunity to buy at land value on one of Burwood’s most desirable streets,” the advert said.

Those with deep pockets and able to overlook the dilapidated property were told to consider the home’s proximity to schools.

“(The property is) located within easy access of some of the area’s leading schools and just 750 meters from Burwood train station, major shops, cafes and restaurants,” he said.

The median price for a three-bedroom property in Burwood is around $2.1 million, according to realestate.com.au
