Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace challenged Democratic colleague Jasmine Crockett to “go outside” during a vicious clash as members met Tuesday.
Congresswoman Crockett (D-Texas) was speaking during a House Oversight Committee meeting as she responded to comments made by Mace.
“Someone’s campaign coffers are really struggling right now, so she keeps saying ‘trans trans trans’ so people feel threatened and kids listen,” Crockett said when Mace intervened.
‘I’m not a child. Don’t call me a child. I’m not a child. Don’t even start,” the South Carolina Republican could be heard speaking over her.
‘I’m a grown woman. I am 47 years old. I’ve broken more glass ceilings than you ever will,” Mace continued.
Crockett tried to win back her speaking time, and committee chairman James Comer tried to intervene, but Mace wasn’t done yet.
‘You’re not going to do that. I’m not a child. I’m not a child. If you want to go public with it, we can do that,” the Republican lawmaker said.
Mace then pushed the microphone away as if to get up, but she didn’t get up.

Rep. Nancy Mace asked to ‘get it out there’ during a hearing after Rep. Jasmine Crockett used “child” while referring to her in an argument over trans rights
The eye-popping row on Capitol Hill came as lawmakers discussed subcommittees and civil rights.
Crockett had called for the re-establishment of a civil rights subcommittee that would focus on protecting liberties.
Then Mace responded that she believes in civil rights for all Americans, but slammed Democrats for talking about the right to privacy. She claimed the party ‘cannot define what a woman is and does not give women the right to privacy.’
“You all want guys with penises, girls with dicks, in our bathrooms,” Mace told the hearing.
Mace argued that it was hypocritical for Democrats to discuss the right to privacy and civil rights.
Her comments come as the South Carolina congresswoman campaigns against allowing transgender women to use women’s restrooms.
Ahead of the new Congress, Mace pushed for a ban on trans women using the women’s restrooms on Capitol Hill, just as the first transgender member of Congress, Congresswoman Sarah McBride, was to be sworn in.
Speaker Mike Johnson sided with Mace on the issue, but she has since repeatedly focused on it and continues to attack transgender people in her speeches and online.

Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) has been on a crusade against transgender people and restrooms since she called last year to ban trans women from using women’s restrooms in the U.S. Capitol.
During Tuesday’s rally, she accused Democrats of disrespecting women and victims of abuse, claiming they want women to have to undress in front of men in locker rooms.
She also used a derogatory slur against a trans person and accused Democrats of taking away women’s rights.
That’s when Crockett made the “kid” comment, prompting Mace to fire back and take him outside.
In response to the escalating confrontation, Democratic Congresswoman Maxwell Frost accused Mace of inciting violence against another member, while another lawmaker accused her of violating decorum rules.
But Mace responded that her comments did not incite violence.

The clash between Mace and Crockett occurred Tuesday during a House Oversight Committee hearing

Congressman Crockett (D-Texas) denounced Mace’s accusations during the hearing that Democrats are not paying attention to women
After a brief pause, Comer ruled Mace’s comments okay. It was also questioned whether Crockett saying “child” was disparaging.
Eventually, the meeting got back on track and Crockett was able to resume her remarks refuting the accusation that Democrats were not paying attention to women.
Crockett pointed out that her party pushed for the Equal Rights Amendment.
She also accused Mace of “fantasizing” about the threat of transgender people in locker rooms and bathrooms, while she has yet to hear actual testimony about anyone experiencing this threat.
The Texas lawmaker said that among the 766,000 people she represents, she has never had a constituent come to her and say they are concerned about being raped by a trans person.
