An MMA fighter has told how he almost stopped an unprovoked attack at a bus station on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast on Sunday (pictured).
Linda couldn’t be more grateful that Mr William intervened and said she hopes the attacker is caught “before anyone else gets hurt”.
“The circumstances could have been very different,” he said.
“We are very hopeful for a full recovery, it is difficult but we are getting there.”
The emotional grandmother hugged and thanked Mr William as the couple met for the first time on Thursday.
“I just want to thank you for being there because the circumstances could have been very different,” he told her.
Mr William replied: “I couldn’t help it, but I’m glad I could chase it away.”
Footage taken by a shocked onlooker showed Mr William practicing jujitsu by wrapping his body around the man, but he slipped away and fled the scene.
William said the man was “going crazy” and felt he had to protect those around him.
“If I hadn’t known anything about jujitsu (a martial art based on grappling and submission), I would have been in big trouble,” he said.
“He aimed at some poor guy, King hit him and before I could turn around and get there, he had already stomped on his head, probably about 10 times.”

“These were seemingly random attacks on these two victims and appear to be unprovoked at this time,” he previously told reporters.
“It was a brutal attack.”
The attacker was described as white and was wearing a gray sweater, dark shorts and thongs.
