A mystic who made her fortune with ‘angel numbers’ revealed that the entire concept is false.
Former New Age professor Doreen Virtue called the practice “rubbish” and admitted she feels ashamed for making it up.
Angel numbers are a form of numerology that attributes divine meaning to certain digits or sequences.
It was popularized by Virtue in the mid-1990s and has several celebrity devotees, including Kylie Jenner and Kristin Cavallari.
The idea came to Virtue during a meditation session in her bathroom, where she had locked herself away to get some peace and quiet from her two children.

Virtue insisted that during this time he believed in what he was teaching and used angel numbers to guide his decisions.

He admitted that he regrets using his influence to radically alter the lives of some of his disciples with “stupid, delusional advice,” including encouraging people to quit their jobs, leave their partners or move away.
“I knew someone whose mother was dying and the number 444 was a comfort to her,” Virtue explained. “She thought that meant her mother would live, and she didn’t.”
Today, Virtue has abandoned its New Age ways in favor of Christianity. His U-turn came in 2015 while he was in the car listening to a preacher on the radio talk about the dangers of false prophets.
He now appears regularly on podcasts and on his YouTube channel denouncing his old beliefs.
‘It can be comforting to think that the angels are with you, but say, “I don’t have to act, because the angels are going to do the work” or “the angels told me this is going to be okay.” “That’s a false hope,” Virtue added.
Her decision to give up angel numbers was met with furious backlash and wild speculation that Virtue was being manipulated by her husband or a demonic spirit, which she denies.

“People find comfort in this because they want this magic solution to problems, but there is no magic solution,” he said.
