Police have found no sign of a woman reported missing more than 10 hours after she was allegedly washed up on rocks off a popular Gold Coast beach.

Gold Coast Police began a major search for the woman after she was reported missing from Currumbin Beach at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The search has seen officers search both the shoreline and the sea amid difficult conditions and rain.

The alleged disappearance of the woman was reported by a man who was in the water when she fell.

The man then reported the incident to other witnesses on the beach, but disappeared before the police arrived.

Gold Coast Police have launched a major search for the woman after she was reported missing on Currumbin Beach.

Police discovered fishing gear on the rocks but found no sign of the woman with inconclusive CCTV footage nearby.

They are now asking for the man to come forward after admitting that they have yet to determine whether or not a woman is missing.
