Tiffany had let Copper out around 10 pm as part of her nightly routine, but things took a terrible turn when Tiffany heard Copper howl in agony from the doorbell camera.

Metal pins were placed inside Copper’s mouth to stabilize her jaw and her tongue required stitches, costing Tiffany more than $3,000 to care for.

Now, the vocal and energetic dog must wear a cone and muzzle while he recovers from his excruciating injuries.

According to GoFundMe, copper recovery should take about two months.

For the shocked owner, the consequences of the shooting have not only been “many” from an economic point of view, but she also feels scared and “traumatized” within her own home.

The Lancaster Police Department is still searching for the shooter and investigating the incident.
