A mysterious noise heard while an American Airlines flight was in the air caused an emergency landing.
Flight 954 had taken off from Buenos Aires on Thursday at 9:15 am and was heading to New York when passengers and crew heard a strange sound at 30,000 feet above sea level.
The plane was abruptly diverted back to its departure destination at Ezeiza International Airport, Express us reported.
The chilling incident led armed police to surround the plane upon its return to Buenos Aires.
The entire situation was captured in dramatic images taken by the passengers of the flight.
One traveler called the ordeal “unusual” and something that seemed “straight out of a movie.”

The chilling incident caused armed officers to storm the cargo hold upon their return, which was captured on spectacular video.
Another woman who witnessed the incident described it as “scary.”
Flight attendants, along with some passengers, reported hearing a loud noise coming from the cargo hold of the ship, which sounded as if someone was trapped and trying to call for help.
The cargo hold, which is sealed and not accessible while the plane is in the air, is an area used to transport baggage, not live cargo.
The pilot initially announced to travelers that the flight would return due to a problem, but later revealed that a person may be trapped inside the hold.
Once the plane landed, armed police officers surrounded the plane, prepared to storm the area and locate the trapped person.
To address the situation, the Special Tactical Assault Group, the Explosives and Special Weapons Control Group and the Canine Technological Binomial were additionally deployed.
Extra hands from the National Civil Aviation Administration, PFA firefighters and health also participated in the operation.
But after a thorough inspection, it was concluded that there was no danger and that no one was trapped inside the cargo hold.
The plane was flying from Buenos Aires, Argentina to New York, but turned back abruptly shortly after takeoff due to concerns that someone had been trapped inside the cargo hold.

The investigation yielded “negative results.”
“The hold was opened and the unloading of the luggage containers began, without anything out of normal parameters being observed at that time,” the emergency services reported.
The flight was eventually cancelled, but due to a “delayed crew”: employees had exceeded the hours they could continue working.
On Friday, American Airlines went to X to confirm there was no problem on the plane, saying, “Reports of a person in cargo are not accurate.”
‘Flight 954 returned to Buenos Aires due to a reported noise in the cargo hold, but after an extensive search, it was determined that there was no problem. Our customers will be departing again later today and we apologize for the inconvenience.
But passengers became frustrated with the airline after spending hours on board the plane before hearing any official news about what was happening.
The flight was later rescheduled, but the cause of the mysterious noise is still unknown.
