An Australian man has been found dead in Bali, prompting an investigation.
Steven James Hunter, 68, was found dead at his home in Kuta, on the southwest coast of Bali, Indonesia, earlier this week.
Mr Hunter, from Newcastle in New South Wales, lived in Darwin before moving to Bali in 2021.
Denpasar police spokesman Ketut Sukadi said Mr Hunter was found outside his room at Kubuku Suli Homestay in Kuta.
He said police investigated the scene and interviewed residents.
Widiyanto, who lived next door to Mr Hunter, told police he heard what sounded like someone falling and then discovered his neighbour lying on the ground.
He called another resident, Aldi, for help and asked him to call the owner of the family home.
They tried to help Mr Hunter but were unable to detect a pulse and covered his body with a sheet.

Mr Sukadi said forensics had carried out an investigation at the scene and confirmed there were no signs of violence or injuries on Hunter’s body.
Police recovered over-the-counter medications, an asthma inhaler and alcohol from his room.
Mr Hunter’s body was taken to Prof. IGNG Ngoerah Central General Hospital in Denpasar for an autopsy.
The investigation is still ongoing.
Mister Hunter wrote on his Facebook profile that he was a “unemployed rigger who just surfed in Bali looking for work.”
Friends shared tributes to Mr Hunter on social media.
“Rest in peace Steven Hunter,” one person wrote.
“Goodbye my love,” wrote another, followed by several crying emojis.
A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia: “The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian man who died in Bali.”
