Police are scouring the Arizona desert for a missing 27-year-old woman whose family found her abandoned car mysteriously stuck on a rock.

Amanda Nenigar, a mother of two, from Blythe, California, disappeared on February 28, a day after she called police to say her car was stuck in a ditch.

A week after she disappeared, her family found her car abandoned 140 miles from where she called 911, with no sign of her inside or nearby.

Police launched a statewide search that grew more mysterious by the day as his family told Arizona’s family Monday: “She could still be lost there. She hasn’t connected to any phone since she called 911.

Neningar’s Toyota Camry was found stuck on top of a rock 45 minutes from Blythe and La Paz County Sheriff William Ponce told the Arizona family: “My personal fear is that he is a recovery and not the location of a person still alive.”

Nenigar was last seen in Blythe, California, where she lived, on February 28, wearing a pink sweatshirt, black leggings and black and white tennis shoes.

She often drives from Blythe to La Paz County, Arizona, where her family lives.

Police said that a week after her family reported her missing, they called her to say they had found her car in the isolated desert south of Cibola, 45 minutes from Blythe.

Ponce told Arizona Family, “The back of the vehicle was on a large rock.”

He added: “When you have a vehicle that’s abandoned and you have no idea where the person has gone or anything, it all seems very strange and very concerning to us.”

After the family found the car, sheriffs discovered that Nenigar had called police the day before she disappeared, telling them her car was stuck in a ditch.

Ponce said, “We know that there was a 911 call that was dispatched to the El Centro, California Highway Patrol station around this time indicating that she was in Anza and on her way to the Palm Springs area.”

She never made it to Palm Springs, and her car was found 140 miles from where she told police she was stranded.

An extensive search of the desert found nothing and cadaver dogs detected no scent.

Ponce said he feared she was a victim of human trafficking.

He said: “Is this a bigger concern for me right now? Yes of course. Our proximity to the US border, the rural character of the state, we are a few hours from Los Angeles, a few hours from Phoenix, 3-4 hours from Vegas.

“We have no information, it’s very mysterious to us. That’s why we’re asking for the public’s help in trying to find her or provide us with any information that could lead us to her whereabouts.
