Expectant mother Leah Roberts learned the exciting news that she was pregnant with a baby girl just days before her tragic death, when she took a quick nap and never woke up again.
The 21-year-old, who was five months pregnant at the time, was so delighted that she had already chosen the name Leena-Rose for her unborn daughter.
Leah, from Cwmbran, north of Newport, went to bed at her grandparents’ house on August 1 because she was feeling unwell, but hours later she could not be woken and sadly died along with her baby.
Now, tributes have poured in for the mother-to-be who just “wanted to love and be loved in return.”

Leah’s heartbroken family have yet to receive any information about the cause of her mysterious death, but friends have paid tribute to her online and set up a fundraising page to help pay for her funeral.
Family friend Becky Davies said: “He had been out for the day and returned to his grandparents’ house because he was unwell. He went to bed for a few hours.”
‘Someone had come to call Leah to see if she was going out somewhere and her grandfather went to her bedroom to try to wake her up and couldn’t.
“She went and told her grandmother that she couldn’t wake her up, so she came into the room and realized something was wrong, pulled her out of bed and started CPR. That was it, she took a nap and never woke up.”
Tributes have poured in for the mother-to-be who just “wanted to love and be loved in return.”
Becky said relatives and emergency services worked on Leah, from Cwmbran, Gwent, for more than an hour but neither she nor the baby could be saved.
“She was the most selfless person you could ever meet. She didn’t have an easy life, but all she wanted was to love and be loved in return,” she said.
‘Family was very important to her, she always said she was going to be a mother.
‘She used to take my kids out for walks, her siblings. She would walk into a room and, no matter if you had a bad day or not, she would always ask if you were okay.
“She was just loving, talkative and fun, she was a big goofball with a big heart.”
Becky set up the fundraising page and said: “I’m just trying to raise enough money so they can have a proper send-off. It’s hard enough losing a daughter, but losing a grandchild at the same time must be one of the most heartbreaking things you can imagine.”
A tribute read: ‘I love you so much and will miss you forever. The world is so cruel, you deserved so much more than I had to offer you and your beautiful little girl… rest in peace in paradise my little girl.’
An inquest into Leah’s death is expected to open at Gwent Coroner’s Court later this month.
