One person wrote: ‘Your parents didn’t borrow your money. They stole it. I hope you have all the documents to prove that the money was yours.
‘Your brother is also to blame for trying to get you to drop a lawsuit with what is probably a lie.
‘If you have the opportunity to start a life without student debt, do everything you can to achieve it. Your parents, and I’m sorry, but their culture sounds completely toxic. I’m glad you came out.
Another agreed, saying: ‘I’m sorry, but this is a criminal matter. If this was for an American university, you’re talking 200k to 300K. Theft of that amount is jail time.
While someone else said: ‘It’s good that the brother offers to return the money. If he really means it, then the contract shouldn’t be a problem for him.
“I agree that his not signing implies that he just wants OP to stop ‘shaming’ the family.” don’t hold back Your parents only thought of themselves, so you have to put yourself first too.
To which the original poster replied: ‘The law student center at my university is helping me with everything. I have proof that the money was mine. I am trying to do everything possible so that this does not become a criminal matter.”
