The New South Wales native, 47, said his sons were born prematurely at 25 weeks and one of them, Nicolas, died eight days later.
Her other son, Adrian, fortunately survived but was held in the neonatal intensive care unit “for about four months”, reported TV week.
However, Adrian was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy and required regular therapy and constant care.
Chris and his wife Mayleen were forced to give up work for two years to care for their child, now aged six.

However, when Mayleen returned to work, Chris chose to stay home and become his son’s primary caregiver.

“Obviously, it was a defining moment in my life. I have a lot more perspective on what is important and what is not.
Chris and his friend Aaron both launched My Kitchen Rules earlier this month and have since made a splash with their tactics.
Accusations of “sabotage” flew last Tuesday night after Aaron started calling other teams “basic.”
However, what really got tongues wagging was when Christian from Melbourne accused team Chris and Aaron of sabotage.
Christian believed that they were intentionally giving harsh criticism to spoil the other teams and improve their own chances of winning the competition.

The trouble started when Chris and Aaron criticized the first two dishes Claudean and Anthony prepared during their Instant Restaurant tour.
Since Chris and Aaron were the only ones at the table who didn’t like the main course, Christian accused them of having ulterior motives for their criticism.
“I think Aaron and Chris are very, very critical of what was a very, very good dish. Is this a tactic? Are they trying to destabilize everyone? he said.
When it was time to give overall ratings for the meals, all the MKR teams gave Claudean and Anthony six or seven ratings, but Aaron and Chris only gave them four.
