A woman whose husband died just weeks after giving birth to their premature baby has revealed how she then discovered he had been unfaithful throughout their marriage.

Marianne Fraser, 32, from Spean Bridge, Scotland, and her late husband Liam, 25, welcomed their son Soren in December 2022.

After spending days in the hospital with their premature baby, Marianne and Liam returned home, where the new father would take his own life on New Year’s Eve.

It was only when the police returned Liam’s phone that Marianne discovered he had been living a secret double life and had even called an unknown number during her labour.

The mother of one, who is an elementary school teacher and musician, recalled holding Soren in her arms when she found Liam almost two years ago.

She said: “I feel like everything has been wiped away. I was in complete shock.”

“It’s strange to be angry at someone who is no longer alive. I still have gaps in my memory about it.”

Following Liam’s shocking death, Marianne was readmitted to hospital because she was too distressed to eat.

The couple, both musicians, had met through mutual friends and had been married for four years.

Recalling her pregnancy, Marianne said: “It was a really nice moment to tell our families. It was very emotional.”

“Everyone was surprised but delighted.”

Soren weighed 6 pounds when he was born five weeks early and was finally able to return home with his parents on Christmas Day.

The mother continued: “Everyone was there and everyone was in love with the new member of the family.”

However, Marianne and Soren’s lives changed forever just a week later when Liam tragically took his own life in the family home.

A few days later, the police returned Liam’s clothes and phone, and that’s how they found evidence of his infidelity.

She continued: ‘I found phone calls to a person while I was in labour.

“It was one blow after another. It seems that everything is very contaminated.”

Although Liam’s infidelity came as a shock, Marianne says the truth has given her some “closure.”

He added: “I wish I had known.”

The single mother is now focused on raising Soren and has even booked a trip with her 19-month-old son to Southeast Asia.

In January, Marianne (pictured) went to her first festival since Liam's death and said it inspired her to start writing music again.

The mother explained: “I wanted to give Soren this amazing life. I’m raising Soren alone.

“What’s the difference between doing it somewhere else? He’s happy, healthy and thriving. I’m lucky to have him.”

In January, Marianne attended her first festival since Liam’s death and said it inspired her to start writing music again.

The mother said: “It was the first time I felt this sense of calm.”

“It was at that moment that I knew I had to get back into music and use it as therapy.”

Marianne’s new single ‘Yes, let’s talk’ is out now and her album Open Hearts and Magic is due out in the autumn.
