A man shared his confusion online after an awkward text message exchange with his long-distance girlfriend of 19 months left him not knowing what to think.
The bemused groom, who has been a vegetarian for more than half his life, was left shaking his head after his carnivorous girlfriend complained that they “sometimes can’t even go to steakhouses together.”
In a post on Reddit, the young man said he was more than willing to go to any steakhouse and assured him that he “didn’t care” because “if the steaks are good, their sides will be too.”
The bride was not so easily convinced and reiterated her concern that they could not “share anything.” The man was more than willing to break up, but that still wasn’t enough to convince his partner that they should stay together.
Meat is their “love language” and the thought of not sharing it “makes me sick.”

Others agree that the entire exchange was “dumb” and “stupid.”
Another laughed and said he only needed to read three slides to realize she was “just looking” for a way to end the relationship.
Others called the bride “ridiculously self-centered,” “beyond childish” and even “irrational.”
The redditor suspected that the girlfriend was doing everything she could to make her case so she could get rid of her man without being made to “look like the bad guy.”
Some people commented that they couldn’t complete the entire exchange and gave up after a few pages because it was too “unbearable.”
Another said that although he “likes a good steak” and can understand the desire to share one with someone you love, he thought this “selfish” girl was “just looking for a reason to break up with you.”
The text message exchange went back and forth for a while and the girlfriend could not be appeased.
Others urged the boyfriend not to abandon his 8-year-old ‘values and morals’ for a girl who knew he was a vegetarian when she started dating him.
Since the boyfriend had gone out of his way to be accommodating to his steak-hungry partner, the consensus seemed to be that “you can’t do or say anything, buddy, she’s out.”
Someone else couldn’t understand how the issue of sharing food arose in the first place when the couple was already in a long-distance relationship and presumably didn’t eat together often enough for incompatibility to arise.
