A bride-to-be was left ‘furious’ after her friend chose an outfit for her upcoming wedding that was ‘too similar’ to her own.
The American-born woman specified a dress code ahead of her big day, requesting that guests wear “cocktail attire” such as dresses, elegant skirts or chic jumpsuits.
But when a friend texted her a photo of the look she wanted to wear, the shocked bride dismissed it, saying it looked just like her white dress.
The guest chose a black top over a soft, flowing, full-length gold skirt with a small black polka dot design that she thought fit the code, but the bride disagreed.
“I told her it looked a lot like the colour of my wedding dress,” the American said on Reddit. “She said ‘well, your dress isn’t polka dots, is it?'”
“Am I the crazy Bridezilla here?” the woman asked online.
Hundreds of people were quick to criticize the original poster, with everyone unanimously agreeing that the two outfits were completely different.
“That doesn’t look anything like your dress. I thought the problem would be that her outfit was too casual for your dress code if she paired it with that top,” one said.
A friend sent a bride-to-be a photo of the outfit she planned to wear to her wedding, but was told it was too similar to the bride’s white dress.
Hundreds of people criticised the bride for being too “fussy” and said the two outfits looked nothing alike.
“That skirt doesn’t look even remotely bridal to me, it looks yellow or light gold, but I don’t think anyone would mistake it for the bride,” added another.
Many agreed that the woman was being “extremely picky” about her guests’ attire, especially considering she had already specified a dress code.
“You, you saw the colors of autumn. You too, no, not like that,” said one.
“I think you’d be entering bridezilla territory if you ruled out her outfit, you said chic fall colors and she nailed it,” another agreed.
Others said the bride had her priorities completely wrong.
“Why don’t you focus on the love of your life and your marriage instead of obsessing even more about your clothing ad than you already do?” one said.
People said they were tired of “controlling” brides who worry about what their friends and family will wear to their wedding.
“Your guests are not your dolls that you can dress however you want, there is nothing remotely bridal about this outfit, stop it,” said one.
But one man argued that if the friend had sent the photo without being asked, then it was okay for the girlfriend to give her honest opinion.
