A woman has spoken out about her trauma after discovering her late boyfriend, who died on the morning of their wedding, had been cheating on her.

Kaitlin Palmieri, then 35, of Long Island, was devastated when her fiancé Eric, 33, died of a heart attack in August 2020, the morning they were supposed to get married.

The couple had been together for more than two years after she met the traveling financial advisor on a dating app.

she told him New York Post how on what would have been Eric’s 37th birthday, she discovered that her late partner had been cheating on her with an anonymous woman who lives on the east coast.

She said: “I felt like I had been emotionally trapped and couldn’t run anywhere.” She had so much frustration and she had nowhere to put it. He had left.

“I was desperate for someone to tell me it wasn’t true, but in my heart I knew it was and I wanted to burst.”

Kaitlin discovered the truth after coming across a tribute on Instagram dedicated to a man who had died with the same name and date of birth as Eric.

Not wanting to believe it was his late partner, he approached the woman in case it was a coincidence.

It turned out that this woman had also been dating Eric at the same time as Kaitlin, and they met on a dating app in 2019.

The other woman shared screenshots of her flirty conversations with Eric, dating back seven months before he asked Kaitlin to marry him in a sweet proposal in Central Park.

kaitlin told the Post that the messages the two shared were lewd in nature, and the groom-to-be sent his final sexual message to the other woman just seven days before their big day.

She was stunned to realize that Eric was not the man she thought she knew.

In a tragic twist, Kaitlin revealed that this was not the first time she had outlived a lover, as her previous boyfriend Mike died in a freak accident in 2015.

She said Mike was knocked unconscious after slipping in the water while they were celebrating his 30th birthday. He died six days later.

Kaitlin said Eric had been “wonderful” in helping her come to terms with Mike’s death.

After years of grieving the loss of Eric, Kaitlin’s grief slowly turned to anger, which is shared by her parents, both in their seventies.

She moved to her native Long Island in search of support and left the apartment she had shared with Eric in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, New York.

She now struggles with PTSD, anxiety and depression as a result of her fiancé’s betrayal and, along with the support of her parents, is seeking therapy to help her cope.

She hopes opening up will help other women facing similar difficult situations and said that even if someone passed away, you don’t have to “automatically” forgive them for hurting you.
