A young Australian woman has revealed a long list of vacation failures that threatened to derail her recent girls’ trip to Europe.
The list includes luggage, broken ankles and pizza so bad the eight women still can’t talk about the revolting cheese filling without gagging.
Izzy Fraser24, has spent months planning the dream four-week holiday – but says everything that could possibly go wrong has happened.
She finds it funny to look back but also wants others to learn from her mistakes.
She told FEMAIL while there were a lot more curveballs than she could have ever expected, she still had the best vacation of her life.
The first-time traveler has only been abroad three times and says the trip hasn’t ruined her will to explore – she’ll just pack some carry-on to save half the hassle next time.
The girls hadn’t even left Australia before their problems started, which she now looks back on and laughs at.
Two members of the group forgot to book bags on the flight and had to pay an extra $250 to check in, she said on ICT Tac.
Izzy Fraser said the world seemed to be turning against her and her seven companions during the trip – but despite a long list of avoidable challenges, she had the best time of her life
Then, at the first stop, Izzy, who had never been to Europe before, had an allergic reaction or was bitten by bed bugs.
“I still don’t know which one it was, but I blamed the accommodation lady for the bed bugs, obviously,” she added.
“It lasted five days, it was so uncomfortable,” she added.
The girls also ‘lost’ their luggage for ten days during the trip – and because some of them didn’t keep their boarding passes it was harder to prove the inconvenience to their insurance companies .
“I haven’t even tried to do it (insurance) yet because I literally couldn’t figure it out overseas,” she said.
Afterwards, the band got a “really dodgy” place to stay in Zagreb, Croatia. The neighborhood didn’t feel safe, the staff were unhelpful, and to make matters worse, when they ordered pizza, it was inedible.
“The cheese was, I can’t even talk about it,” she choked out, adding that she doesn’t think she’ll be able to eat Margherita pizza again.
The 24-year-old said the fact that they had fun was hilarious considering how much “went wrong”.
Everyone caught some kind of virus on the trip too, she explained, saying she was sick before everyone else followed suit.
A near miss moments after getting a rental car rounded out the first of four videos where she goes over the bad things that happened on the trip.
The group also delayed the rest of their trip for a day, staying in Zagreb an extra night after the airport said their luggage was likely to arrive by then.
“Obviously it wasn’t, so it was a waste of money,” she said.
She added that they switched places for the extra night because they didn’t want to stay in the ‘hood’ anymore.
Delayed luggage meant the girls had 45 minutes to shop for a five-day festival on the third day of their trip.
“It’s eight girls running around like I’m sweating, I’m running around this mall buying the dumbest things,” she said.
They also got a parking ticket and said it took them three weeks to figure out how to pay it.
During the trip there were a lot of delayed buses and planes.
“Most of my flights were delayed, the buses were just super inconsistent,” she said.
She had the best time despite all the travel issues
Especially in Greece where she added that they come whenever they want.
In the Croatian city of Dubrovnik, the friends had more housing problems.
She described the man who worked in their accommodation as super scary and said she didn’t feel safe in the car as he raced through the streets with his mobile phone.
“I almost hit a car and then I leaned over (and said) ‘I’m protecting you’ – well, I don’t feel safe my love,” she said.
The accommodation was not what was pictured so the friends ran away and found something else.
“It was midnight,” she said, explaining that they had also been scammed for 100 euros and were laughed at in the street as they were figuring out what to do.
In part three, the young woman said that one day after a “really chaotic day” the group was on a boat trip when another passenger broke his ankle.
She said the woman had to be carried off the boat and people had to take care of her children, with the whole episode delaying the visit by 30 minutes.
“I was like OMG who could easily have been one of us, because of the background.”
The group wasn’t even supposed to be on this boat, but the one they had originally booked was canceled five minutes before departure.
They also took a terrifying ride in a motorboat: “I didn’t expect to almost lose my life.”
The group also picked a 2 a.m. bus by mistake.
At the end of the trip, they again lost their luggage – just for two days.
Her friend also received a massive electric shock that caused her to shake and bounce on the bed. His hand then hurt for days.
Two members of the group had forgotten to reserve luggage on the flight and had to pay an additional $250 to check in
In the final video, Izzy said she lost her AirPods, immediately after losing her luggage.
“I just wanted to listen to music, I could have cried,” she said.
The friend who was nearly electrocuted suffered another injury after trying to open a drink without a bottle opener.
The lid came off forcefully and hit her in the eye.
Izzy injured herself twice in two days, the first time she was in the ocean when boats passed her, making waves that pounded her against the rocks.
Then she fell in the middle of the street with her backpack, injuring her knee.
Much to her embarrassment, there was a busy restaurant across the street and cars had to stop for her – which meant far too many eyes were on her.
She was also hungry for much of the trip as she is lactose intolerant and gluten free which makes much of the food off limits.
Izzy said she had the time of her life and she wouldn’t change a thing.
