Amy, an avid traveler from Canada, often travels around the world and documents her adventures on her TikTok account, where she has accumulated over 87,000 followers.
“This may be controversial, but Niagara Falls is overrated,” she wrote in a TikTok video.

She recently took a trip to one of her home country’s most popular vacation spots.
“Tourist trap to the max,” she added in the caption.
In the video, she said her boyfriend, Sam, from the UK, “really wanted to go” to see the famous waterfalls, so they decided to take a day trip together.
She explained that they had to pay $15 for parking and that although the view was beautiful, it was difficult to enjoy it due to the immense amount of people.
“Of course the view isn’t bad, but what you don’t see are the crowds of people and the cheesy town,” she said.
“I hate to say it, but it’s the Vegas of Canada. I mean, look at this water, it’s exactly what you see when you look down,” she added, while pointing to a brown, murky pool.
Instead, Amy suggested driving 30 minutes to a town called Niagara on the Lake, located on the shore of Lake Ontario.
She ended her TikTok by showing her and her boyfriend sitting and enjoying a glass of wine together.

“You will find many beautiful vineyards there, spend the day there instead,” she concluded.

The area outside of Niagara Falls, called Clifton Hill, is well known for being a very popular destination full of lavish casinos and resorts, restaurants, amusement parks, museums and shopping.
Amy spoke in more detail about some of the downsides of visiting the “natural wonder of the world” on her Instagram.
“Parking costs a minimum of $15 for the day, but it could cost more than $20 if you want to be closer to the falls,” she wrote.
“(No matter what day you go), you will always be among a crowd of people.
“We went on a Monday and it was packed.
“And you only need 30 minutes at the falls because there’s not much to do.”
She criticized the “commercialized city built around the falls,” saying it “really takes away from the beauty.”
“(The area outside) is super cheesy and filled with chain restaurants and bad amusement parks. Avoid if you can,” she said.

“I love my city, it’s not cheesy,” someone else replied. Another wrote: “No, Niagara Falls is fire. »
