My Big Fat Fabulous Life star Whitney Way Thore says many people have asked her if she would use Ozempic amid the drug’s growing popularity and speculation that she has lost weight as a result.

Thore, 40, said We weekly On Tuesday, ‘with the Ozempic craze and all that, I was questioned a lot.

“It’s funny, but at the same time people insist that I must have had weight loss surgery, and others say, ‘I haven’t lost a single kilo.'”

The TLC personality, who has lost about 100 pounds, was noncommittal about whether or not she would use the drug.

“I’m not saying I wouldn’t necessarily do it, I don’t know,” the Greensboro, North Carolina, native told the outlet while promoting season 12 of the series, which initially aired in January 2015.

Thore, who has more than 1.3 million followers on Instagram, told outlet Ozempic: “It’s not something I’ve really thought about or felt a medical need for, but it’s not something I would say, ‘I would never do.'”

Thore said that while opinions on Ozempic remain “nuanced within the body positivity community,” she doesn’t have a strong opinion on the issue in either direction.

“I don’t have a fixed opinion on this, personally,” Thore said. “I think every person has the right to do what they want with their own body.”

Thore told the outlet that she reserves judgment on the matter as to what others want to do.

“And as a fat person who has been fat my entire adult life, I would never shame or criticize another fat person for choosing to do something that makes their life easier,” she said.

Thore explained the details of her weight loss journey to the outlet, as she said she lost 50 pounds “years ago” and an additional 50 pounds following the death of her mother Barbara “Babs” Thore in December 2022 at the age of 76.

She said the social media speculation about her weight loss programme does not mark “a huge change” from the status quo: “What it shows is that people on the internet see what they want to see and they project it onto you.

“I could post something today and half the comments would be like, ‘Oh my god, you’re skinny, you’re literally skinny now,’ even though I’m 300 pounds. And the other half of the comments would be like, ‘Oh my god, she’s bigger than ever. ‘”

Thore told the outlet that she hates people commenting on her physical appearance, “because it’s literally what people want to see that day, that time, that photo.”

“People constantly say to me, ‘Oh, you’ve lost more weight.’ And I say, ‘No, you haven’t. I weigh myself every day. I can tell you exactly how much I’ve weighed at every moment of my life.'”

Thore said that while she’s not “actively trying to lose weight,” she does weigh herself every day to monitor her polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) symptoms.

“I kind of track my workouts based on that,” Thore said. “It’s just a habit, really, and I don’t do it for any reason. It doesn’t make me feel any type of way.”

Thore opened up about the ups and downs that come with appearing on the long-running reality series.

“There are so many positive things that come from doing the show,” she said, “unfortunately, it’s often overshadowed by the really scary, difficult, negative stuff.”

‘I know that My Big Fat Fabulous Life has changed the lives of people all over the world, and it’s a gift to people… I can’t imagine taking it away because people go crazy on the Internet.’
