This week a first-degree murder trial was initiated in Oklahoma for a father accused of having shot his 22-year-old daughter in the face just months after witnesses said she had accused him of beating and groping her.
Ronald McMullen, 46, is accused on 29 June 2017 and kills the death of his daughter, former cheerleader paramedic Kailee McMullen.
On Wednesday, the jury heard from Kailee & # 39; s friends and her ex-boyfriend, who testified about the alleged abuse she had allegedly suffered by her father in the months before her death.
Ronald McMullen, 46 (left), is being tried in Oklahoma for first-degree murder in the shooting with the death of his daughter, 22-year-old Kailee McMullen (right) in June 2017
Kailee, a former cheerleader (pictured with her parents, Karen and Ronald), was found dead in a gunshot wound to the face at her home on June 29, 2017
& # 39; She told me her father hit her and let her nose bleed, & # 39; testified Sonia Ghanatti Hester. & # 39; She told me that her mother had drawn a gun on him, & # 39; reported The Oklahoman.
Kailee & # 39; s former boyfriend Paul Sargent said from the gallery that she was crying him in April 2017, three months before her death.
& # 39; She told me that her mother drew a gun at her father earlier that night after beating her and sleeping with her mother, & # 39; testified Sargent. & # 39; While she slept with her mother, her father slid behind her and began to touch her improperly … and she slid forward against her mother's back. & # 39;
Another friend, Maegan Swan, described Kailee's relationship with Ronald as that of two friends, rather than a parent and a child, and said they were drinking friends.
Swan also repeated the same story about how Ronald allegedly hit Kailee in the face during a heated exchange, how her nurse mother allegedly drew a gun at him and threatened to kill him when he touched her daughter again, and how the father later slipped in them bed and allegedly stroked the 22 year old.
Friends testified that Ronald hit Kailee in the face in April 2017, making her nose bleed and her mother (right) drew a gun at him for it
When Karen McMullen took the position, she denied that her husband was abusing their daughter and once denied pulling a gun at him.
She also said she doesn't think Ronald killed Kailee.
In his opening statement on Tuesday, defender Michael Johnson said that the woman shot herself and that shot residue on her hand supports that theory.
& # 39; Ronald McMullen had no shot residue on his hand, not a single dot, & # 39; said Johnson.
Prosecutor Jacobi Whatley challenged that theory and said evidence presented during the trial shows that & # 39; Kailee did not shoot the gun at himself & # 39 ;.
A Norman police officer testified that Ronald McMullen brought his daughter's body from the kitchen to the living room and called his wife Karen to tell her & # 39; Kailee was shot & # 39; before calling 911.
Norman Police Lt. Chris Vinson says he was immediately suspicious that Ronald McMullen was involved, partly because he was drenched in the blood of his daughter and had his wife answer questions for him.
Friends also told the court that Ronald had slid into bed with Kailee and had improperly touched her after the hit incident
& # 39; He didn't answer any questions I would expect from him, it seems like he would just be quiet and let his wife answer questions, & # 39; Vinson testified. & # 39; He had blood everywhere, it was in his hair, in his face, in his shirt, it was everywhere. & # 39;
Johnson responded by saying there was blood on his client because he was close to Kailee when she shot himself.
According to a sworn statement for a search warrant filed on July 6, 2017, one day after Ronald's arrest on a charge of murder, the police arrived at the house on the 1700 block of Abe Martin Drive, to McMullen's wife, Karen Hooker McMullan to find the young woman's CPR.
Ronald McMullen was arrested in July 2017, a week after the death of his daughter and charged with murder
Officers took over CPR duties on Kailee – whose last name was given in official documents like Hooker – until it was clear she was dead.
Kailee & # 39; s body was in the entrance to the house, and a blood-splashed .357 revolver was found on a side table.
Her father was also full of blood and stared blankly when the police asked what happened, the police claim.
As the police ventured farther into the house, they discovered that McMullen had tried to mop up blood in the kitchen of the house, the statement said.
And when they tried to take pictures of the blood-soaked father, he tried to wipe it himself with a towel, despite repeated demands that he quit, it claimed.
The towel was torn away from McMullen, who then tried to use his hands until he was physically held, the report said.
After the & # 39; s photos were taken, McMullen & # 39; s behavior reached bizarre extremes, while the man reportedly went to the entrance of the house, which borders a lawn, and & # 39; lay down in the ground & # 39 ;.
He & # 39; then began to cover himself in dirt while rubbing the shoes he was wearing on the concrete entrance & # 39 ;, the statement claimed.
Kailee worked as an EMT and in a plasma donation clinic in Norman when she was killed.
She graduated from Norman High School in 2013, where she was a cheerleading captain of Varsity, before attending the Bible College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
& # 39; Kailee had a passion for helping people and animals, & # 39; read her death notice.
