Courtney Luna, from California, has revealed how she lost a staggering 55lbs following the extreme diet

A mum-of-two has revealed how she lost a staggering 55lbs following the extreme ‘lion’ diet, which consists exclusively of meat and animal products.

Courtney Luna, from California, decided to try the restrictive diet two years ago after finding herself “overweight, lethargic and addicted to sugar and carbohydrates.”

The 39-year-old, who has been branded a ‘meatfluencer’, says she has seen incredible benefits including significant weight loss, increased energy, no more acne and improvements to her mental health.

In addition to more standard foods like beef burgers, steaks, eggs, salmon, chicken, bacon, butter and pork rinds, Courtney also indulges in organ meats like pork liver, heart and tongue.

He even ate sardines for 10 days straight in an attempt to reduce sugar cravings and focus on hunger cues instead of mindless eating.

Courtney’s diet means she hasn’t eaten vegetables in over 700 days and eats snacks like sticks of butter and raw eggs, something she is often criticized for.

“People online can’t seem to understand that I can ditch the vegetables and thrive,” the homeschooling mom said.

‘It really bothers them to see me go against everything they’ve told us.

‘That said, my friends and family are very supportive and many of them have even switched to this way of eating after seeing how well I’m doing and all the health benefits I’ve had.

‘I’ve been eating this way for two years. I started because I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.

‘I was overweight, depressed, addicted to carbs and sugar, feeling lethargic and generally just horrible.

“I was willing to try anything to get my life back.”

Since adopting a mostly meat-based diet, often called the “lion diet,” the mother of two says she feels like a new woman.

Courtney, who has 116,000 on Instagram, said: “The biggest (change) would be my mental health.

‘I was able to stop my anxiety and depression medications. Many people don’t realize that their diet affects their mental health.

‘I’ve gotten rid of 25 years of acne, lost 55 pounds, no gas or bloating, tons of energy, and overall feel very happy.

“My lab results are excellent and I am no longer prediabetic.”

The mother says the interesting diet has also allowed her to develop a better relationship with food.

She is currently on a ‘sardine fast’, eating only sardines for 10 days, in a bid to focus on hunger cues rather than mindless eating, which she says works because she would never choke on sardines or crave them strongly. eat them.

Courtney said: “Many people think that you need to be able to eat all foods in moderation to have freedom, but for me that’s not the case.”

‘Being free of the control that certain foods had on me was mentally draining and exhausting. I would either try to moderate it or I would drink one and binge.

‘Now you can have a plate of donuts next to me and there is no desire to have one.

‘Knowing that I am a teetotaler and not a moderator changed my life.

“In the same way that an alcoholic cannot moderate his consumption of alcohol, I cannot moderate my consumption of carbohydrates and sugar, so I abstain.”

Despite assumptions that it must be an expensive lifestyle, Courtney insists her grocery bill hasn’t changed.

She said: ‘Eating this way can be done very cheaply.

‘Grocery store meat and eggs are still very nutritious if someone can’t afford to get grass-fed beef and pasture-raised eggs.

‘If I do it on a budget, I can spend about $7 a day on food.

‘But some days I can spend more depending on the cuts and if I add extras that are expensive, like egg wraps or meat chips.

“We spend about $300 a week for a family of four.”
