‘Multiple victims’ killed by active shooter at Allen Premium Outlets

Date:

Multiple victims have been killed after at least one active gunman opened fire on an outdoor mall in a Texas suburb.

The shooting took place in Allen, a small suburb north of Dallas, near the Allen Premium Outlets. Reports from local police sources indicate that there may have been two gunmen – one of them is now dead and another is still at large

Police saw shops sweeping around 6 p.m., more than two hours after police first entered the complex following reports of gunfire.

In their only statement since the dozens of shots reportedly rang out around 3:45 p.m., police in Allen said the scene is still active, while local law enforcement sources tell CNN that one of the suspects, dressed in tactical gear, was dead on the ground.

Video footage shows civilians leaving the premises, many with their hands on their heads looking visibly distraught, while more shocking footage exposed some of the fatalities, with at least four dead, bloodied bodies seen outside an H&M store.

A Collin County Sheriff’s representative confirmed Saturday that there were “some” victims, though their status remains unknown as of 6 p.m. ET. However, shocking aerial photos show the fatalities

As of 7 p.m., police were still searching for the second gunman, insiders told CNN, as video footage and eyewitness accounts give some semblance of the horror shoppers faced, with hundreds filmed fleeing audible gunfire sounds.

There are few other details about the shooting and it is still unclear if there were any fatalities. However, according to several witnesses, multiple shots were fired, including a mother whose car was pierced by two bullets as she fled the scene with her young daughter.

‘Don’t go to the Allen outlet!!!’ Van Alstyne resident Kimberly Blakey wrote in a post on Facebook at 5:13 p.m. Attached to the post were several photos showing the damage to the door of her car from the two bullets.

“Peyton and I were just there and someone started shooting,” she recalls after escaping eighth grade with her daughter.

“People were running and we were just trying to leave.”

“The shooting,” she added, “continued non-stop.”

My car was hit by two bullets. We are so thankful that everything is okay.”

Elaine Penicaro, another local mom, also described hearing a nonstop hail of gunfire while shopping with her own daughter.

“We were outside the Converse store and we just heard all that popping,” Penicaro said Fox 4 after they also fled the scene and took cover when they reportedly heard the shots at around 3:45 pm.

“We actually all stopped, and a second later, just ‘Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,’ and sparks flew like it was right in front of us.”

Brayson Jones, a 17-year-old who worked the PM shift at the outlets’ Champs Sports store, told the New York Times he heard “probably more than 20 shots” and saw people running out of the stores.

“As soon as I heard the shots and people’s screams, I didn’t wait to see what was going on, I backed off and left,” the teen recalls of the frantic scene.

He added that in the frenzy he rescued a random stranger, who he said ran to his car when the shots were fired and motioned to let him in.

Police have yet to comment on their initial statement that they were “investigating” the shooting, video from a Fox 4 helicopter shows at least four bodies covered in blood in white sheets.

Other aerial photos show the mass evacuation that occurred as police reportedly swept each store to assess their safety, with hundreds of shoppers running away from the H&M location where the bodies were seen.

The same store was seen in the background of the footage showing people running across a parking lot in front of the mall – while the loud blast of gunfire emanated in the background.
