- Saul admitted that Mulberry had had problems in recent years

The founder of Blackberry has spoken out about an £83million bid from retail tycoon Mike Ashley last week.
Roger Saul, who founded the company in 1971 in Somerset, said it would be a more natural fit for a European luxury player like LVMH.
He admitted that Mulberry had had problems in recent years.
“The company needs to get back to the spirit of the brand as a whole,” he said.
‘He has languished. “She has become too dependent on handbags.”
Singapore billionaire Ong Beng Seng has a majority stake but is trying to fend off Ashley, who is the second-largest shareholder.
Ashley made the offer, which was rejected, as he strives to raise the level of his empire.
Saul added: ‘Ashley is a good retailer, but the company has prepared itself and a battle has been created. LVMH could intervene. It is a strong brand. “To build such a brand from scratch would cost hundreds of millions of pounds.”
