The VMAs will be broadcast live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on August 30 and will follow new safety guidelines in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced in June that the event would take place in the iconic ‘limited or no audience’ arena.

In addition to the usual awards presented that evening, this year marks the introduction of two new awards recognizing work produced during the pandemic: Best Music Video From Home and Best Quarantine Performance.

Those competing for Best Music Video From Home include Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Drake and John Legend, while the R&B duo Chloe x Halle stand for the best quarantine performance.
