Rachel Maddow is mocking her anti-Donald Trump monologue in which she warned that the United States was heading toward autocratic rule after his resounding election victory.
The MSNBC star claimed that the voter turnout for the Republican president-elect was evidence that Americans had “let democracy go” and opted for a “strong authoritarian system.”
He compared the result to those seen in countries such as North Korea, Russia and China and urged Democrats not to “get discouraged.”
‘Now we can work on being damn pirates. We can work to be a thorn in the side of anyone who tries to turn this country into a petty tyranny.
However, she was immediately ridiculed online, with many viewers criticizing her “hyperbole.”
Rachel Maddow has been mocked for a “boring” monologue against Donald Trump in which she warned the US was heading towards autocratic rule.
“Super boring, Trump was elected popular and electoral by a wide margin, it’s a democratic margin,” one person wrote.
“It’s ridiculous, maybe the 10 people who watch your show will finally change the channel,” another added.
“Yuck, she’s so dishonest with her hyperbole,” wrote a third.
Another person described the MSNBC star as “out of character,” while one viewer simply wrote, “Sit down, Rachel.”
In her five-minute speech, Maddow described the outcome as a split between liberals who support democracy and Republicans who want to “destroy the American system of government.”
He encouraged those who were disappointed with the outcome to “get excited” and “restless” rather than remain upset for weeks to come.
“The more ground the authoritarian takes, the harder it will be to regain that ground,” Maddow said.
‘The first order of business is to prevent them from taking uncontested ground from the start.
The MSNB host gave a five-minute speech in which she claimed that the election result had the potential to turn the United States into a “tin tyranny.”
Many online commentators ridiculed Maddow for her latest post-election rant.
“They are going to start putting pressure to see how far the country will let them go without counterattacks and without protests.”
He calmed liberal viewers by telling them they now had a renewed sense of purpose behind Kamala Harris.
“Apparently this is what we must do on this earth as American citizens in this generation,” Maddow added. ‘Because history didn’t just end, time didn’t just stop.
‘We just received orders from the universe and the electoral college. Starting today, we American citizens who want to preserve democracy know what we are going to spend the next days, weeks, and even years of our lives working on.’
The scenes were reminiscent, though perhaps not as emotional, of the speech he gave in 2016, immediately after Trump’s first victory.
The president-elect achieved victory in both the popular vote and the electoral college vote.
In her concession speech, Vice President Kamala Harris admitted “this is not what we wanted” as she took the stage at Howard University, nearly 12 hours after the race was officially called for the former president.
Harris, however, also promised to help with the peaceful transfer of power, even as she said she would continue the battle after Trump’s dominant victory.
Maddow reassured liberal viewers that “time didn’t just end” with Trump’s election.
A devastated Kamala Harris told her dozens of tearful fans to keep fighting as she admitted election defeat to Donald Trump in Washington DC.
