Joe Biden offered his final TV sit-down to MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell this week — and onlookers quickly accused the network of going easy on the president.
Many accused O’Donnell — a self-described “European socialist” — of praising the president when he didn’t need to.
The journalist praised Biden’s signing of a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, which funneled billions of dollars into ongoing environmental projects.
When it came to inflation, Biden blamed red states — saying that “(they) really screwed up their economies” with a slow return to post-pandemic manufacturing.
Biden said such states needed a lot of attention and required investments that accelerated inflation.
He also sought to quell criticism of his handling of the economy, insisting that other strategies would have led to several job losses.
“Ironically, I almost spent too much time on policy and not enough time on politics,” the Democrat admitted at another point — with very little pushback from progressives across the aisle.
Onlookers who witnessed Biden’s first and only term quickly wondered what the script of the sit-down really was.

President Joe Biden (right) gave what is expected to be his final Oval Office television interview to MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell (left). The back and forth aired Thursday night
“The (B)iden team was like(,) who can we get an interview with that won’t push back on anything and let us ask the questions,” one X user wrote.
“Oh, I know(,) Lawrence.”
“(The fact) that Biden gave his last interview to MSNBC tells you everything you need to know about Biden and MSNBC,” another added.
“He wanted someone to adore him and they obeyed like an obedient puppy wanting a dog treat.”
Someone else expressed awe at a comparison from O’Donnell, equating Biden’s signing of the spending bill to “a magic trick.”
The MSNBC player who started his career as an aide to U.S. Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan marveled that Biden could do this with “the smallest Senate majority in history.”
“Like a magic trick,” the user quoted, before using an acronym to describe laughter.
“Foolish @Lawrence(.) Name ONE of Biden’s accomplishments besides ruining the country. @MSNBC you need to be more precise about who you hire.”

Many accused O’Donnell — a self-described “European socialist” — of praising the president when he wasn’t supposed to.
“This is just wild,” another user exclaimed. “Biden’s final Oval Office interview is with deranged clown Lawrence O’Donnell – and he’s just rambling incoherently.
“A Case Study on How to Boost Your Public Image Now Before You Leave Office.”
Others said they found the interview surprisingly sobering — noting how Biden seemed aware and aware after withdrawing from the race.
This only led to more accusations that MSNBC offered an olive branch to the outgoing president in the form of a softball interview, as he leaves office with lower approval ratings from the moment he won.
During the interview, he told O’Donnell he was concerned about press freedom – and revealed how four other MSNBC presenters had told him they were “concerned about whether or not they would be held accountable for telling the truth.” ‘
“When has that ever happened in America, I mean, in a long time?” the president mused at the time, before bragging that he had been right all along about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intentions to invade Ukraine.
He also made several stumbles during the sit-down, at one point referring to North Koreans being sent to Russia as “Chinese” to fight in Ukraine.
During another conversation, he started mentioning Sweden instead of Switzerland as the place where he met Putin in June 2021, eight months before the invasion.

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell got the last chance to ask President Joe Biden questions in the Oval Office as the Democrat left his office on Monday
O’Donnell, previously a writer for The West Wing, let it slide every time.
At one point, O’Donnell even appeared to side with the outgoing president after he admitted to telling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he cannot bomb civilian areas – to which the politician replied, “But you did.”
This was after the events of October 7, 2023, and almost immediately afterwards the Israeli forces began to retaliate.
Biden further recalled what Netanyahu told him at the time, explaining how he had referred to the US bombing of civilian areas in Europe during the last World War.
“Well, you did. You carried out a carpet bombing’ – not his exact words: ‘But you carried out a carpet bombing of Berlin. You dropped a nuclear weapon. You killed thousands of innocent people because that’s what you had to do to win a war. ,” the president quoted.
A somewhat miffed O’Donnell commented, “So he was comparing 21st century war tactics, combat tactics, to World War II?”
Netanyahu reportedly responded that he had made a “legitimate argument” because the Hamas fighters killing Israelis were hiding in tunnels.
Since then, several Israeli airstrikes have taken place, killing dozens of Palestinian civilians.
Fox’s Katie Pavlich further slammed the display, saying of Biden on air: “He’s at the bottom of the barrel here, trying to stay relevant.”
A few days ago, President-elect Trump panned the man he’s replacing — and the treatment he’s received at the hands of the press — while answering reporters’ questions at Mar-a-Lago.
Ahead of the final interview, he said the longest sit-down reporters would get with Biden was “one question and then they rush you out of the room.”
