A frustrated MSNBC anchor threw aside her script during a passionate discussion about Donald Trump’s attacks on the daughter of a New York state judge.
Nicole Wallace appeared on MSNBC’s Deadline: White House on Friday, joined by former federal judge Michael Luttig, MSNBC’s John Heilman, Lisa Rubin and Glenn Kirschner.
“So, you know, it’s time to do something different,” the host said, delivering her prepared remarks off-camera.

The panel was discussing Trump’s comments about New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchán’s daughter, Loren.

“I’ve been on the air with breaking news about requests for gag orders due to threats to judges and their children more times than I could count today before I prepared,” Wallace said.
Merchan is overseeing Trump’s hush money trial in New York, where prosecutors allege the former president falsified documents about payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign.
Wallace apologized to the person who “has to write the sign at the end of my show” before adding: “Donald Trump violated the rule of law.”

His comments came days after Judge Merchan imposed a gag order on the former president, preventing him from speaking about “reasonably foreseeable witnesses,” the lawyers working on the case, court staff or their families.
However, the order did not include Merchan or her daughter, prompting prosecutors to ask for clarification on Friday.
Trump took advantage of the loophole and took to social media to vent his frustrations on the judge and his daughter.
“Judge Juan Merchán is totally compromised and should be immediately removed from this TRUMP non-case,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Thursday.
He then turned his ire on Loren, 34, alleging that she was the owner of an account on X, formerly Twitter, that featured an image of Trump behind bars.
“His daughter, Loren, is a rabid Trump hater, has admitted to having conversations with her father about me, and yet he gagged me,” Trump professed.
“She works for corrupt Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff and other radical leftists campaigning to ‘get Trump.'”

After receiving a gag order prohibiting him from speaking about people working on the case, but not about Judge Merchan and his daughter, Trump lashed out on social media.
In statements published in Truth Social, Trump considered Judge Merchan to be “totally compromised” and stated that he should be removed from the case.
Loren Merchan, pictured with her husband, previously served as an executive at Authentic, a digital marketing agency that works with Democratic candidates.
Trump has lashed out at the 34-year-old in the past, including in April of last year, where he criticized her work with Kamala Harris and the Biden-Harris campaign.
The controversy surrounding account X led the court to issue a statement clarifying that the name once belonged to the judge’s daughter. However, she deleted the account a year ago and it has since been taken over by someone else.
These were not the first comments Trump made about Loren’s political leanings. The 34-year-old previously served as an executive at Authentic, a digital marketing agency that works with Democratic candidates, including President Joe Biden.
In a post on Truth Social in April 2023, Trump once again went after her and criticized her for working with “Kamala” and now the Biden-Harris campaign. ‘Kangaroo Court!!!’
The former president’s legal team argued last year that Judge Merchan should recuse himself, claiming his daughter would benefit financially from his decisions.
But he refused, citing a state advisory committee on judicial ethics that determined his impartiality could not “reasonably be questioned.”
The hush money trial will begin on April 15.
It centers on a case brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in which Trump has been charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records.
Trump, who is the presumptive Republican candidate in the upcoming presidential election, pleaded not guilty to all charges.
He has claimed that the case is politically motivated and denied having sexual relations with Daniels.
