- Moussa Dembele has signed a six-month loan agreement with Atletico Madrid
- Islam Slimani has finally sealed the Leicester exit to take his place in Lyon
- Dembélé replaces Diego Costa, who left Atleti for six months at the beginning of December
Moussa Dembele has sealed his six-month move to Atlético Madrid, with Islam Slimani arriving in Lyon to take his place.
Dembélé arrives at the LaLiga champions as a direct replacement for Diego Costa, who left the Spanish giants last month, with a reported buy option of £ 29.6 million over the summer.
The 24-year-old enjoyed two productive seasons for goal in France after Celtic’s arrival in 2018.

Islam Slimani has arrived in Lyon with an 18-month deal to take Dembele’s place
He is leaving after 45 times in 108 games, including a quarter-final brace in last season’s Champions League at Manchester City.
Algerian international Slimani, in turn, has ended his wretched spell at Leicester by signing an 18-month deal with the Ligue 1 leaders.
Slimani made the last of just 48 games in four and a half years with the Foxes in a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last October.
The 32-year-old was on a £ 28 million contract in August 2016, but never actually settled, and has been on loan in each of the last three seasons.
Atlético boss Diego Simeone confirmed this week that the club is nearing the arrival of Lyon attacker Dembélé.

The need for a replacement for Costa was heightened when he terminated his contract with the club for six months in early December.
“It still hasn’t been confirmed, but it’s very advanced,” the Atletico coach told reporters.
‘I’m going to turn my head to the game, that’s what interests me, and when something’s up [on Dembele], if anything, I’ll give an opinion. ‘
Simeone’s comments come after Lyon sporting director Juninho revealed that the striker had come to talk to him about his desire to leave.
Moussa came to me. He thinks now is the time to switch teams, that he has lost some motivation, ” said the Brazilian.
Simeone was looking for a striker to replace Diego Costa, who canceled his deal
‘We had not foreseen this. I like him very much. Holding someone who doesn’t really want to sustain the intensity for the next five months – that’s not ideal.
“We are in talks with Atletico, I think Moussa has found an agreement with Atletico.”
Dembélé has scored just one Ligue 1 goal from 16 top matches in France this season, after a season scoring 24 in 46 in all competitions.
