Five people are fighting for their lives and four others have been injured after a horrific two-vehicle crash near a popular tourist destination.
The accident happened on Shute Harbour Road in Mount Marlow, southwest of Airlie Beach in northern Queensland, at 1.08pm on Sunday.
Six people were rushed to Proserpine Hospital after emergency services, including police and firefighters, attended the scene.
Two of those people are believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries, while four others are in stable condition. Courier mail information.

Three other people are also believed to have suffered serious injuries.
Nine people in total are believed to have been injured after the accident.
Shute Harbour Road, which connects Proserpine and Airlie Beach, has been closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed for some time.
Motorists have been urged to avoid the area and diversions and traffic signs have been put in place to redirect drivers to alternative routes.
Police are on site and conducting investigations.
