Drivers have been warned against a TikTok car cleaning hack that could put lives at risk.

In the midst of the cost-of-living crisis, many motorists have searched the Internet for inexpensive ways to keep their cars looking shiny and new.

And while Moneybarn’s experts have called many cleaning tips circulating on the social media app “relatively harmless,” they warn that some put lives at risk.

They have urged drivers to take precautions when participating in social media trends and be aware of the damage they can cause.

Experts have told drivers to take precautions if they engage in a viral car cleaning method.

The cost-cutting trick is to add olive oil to a coffee filter or cupcake pan and scrub the countertop.

Insiders said, “There are plenty of indoor cleaning hacks you can find on TikTok, like using a squeegee to remove pet hair and putting silicone cupcake liners in the cup holder.”

A viral in-app car cleaning method is using olive oil to make your dashboard shine.

TikToker Babs @brunchwithbabs suggested rubbing the insides with olive oil and coffee filters.

She said: “Not only does it remove dust, but it acts as a repellent against the dust and lint that builds up so quickly.”

The video received more than 60,000 likes and more than 9,000 shares by users eager to try the tricks.

Although the trick can remove dust, experts have urged drivers not to use oil on the wheels and to be careful to wipe off any excess.

“While this may seem like a good idea in theory, if you don’t wipe off all the oil, it will be slippery and could be dangerous,” they said. Sun.

TikToker Babs shared more tricks with her 3.8 million followers to keep their cars in ‘top shape’.

The mother of four and grandmother of eight suggested: “Clean your headlights with toothpaste, it will actually remove light to moderate oxidation that can cause your headlights to fog up.”

He also suggested placing a cup of white vinegar in your car overnight to get rid of odors.

However, experts suggest that drivers should be careful when trying a new cleaning method on their car.

They said that if you are using a new product, such as carpet cleaner, vinegar, or baking soda, you should test them on small areas first.
