The 32nd annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade was halted after a motorcycle accident that injured at least 10 people

At least 10 people have been injured and one person is believed to have been killed in Palm Springs, California, after a police officer on a motorcycle crashed into a crowd.

Spectators had gathered for the Festival of Lights Parade on Saturday evening when a PSPD traffic officer performing a stunt lost control of his motorcycle.

Footage shows the officer driving at high speed along the road, just steps away from where bystanders watched the procession just after 6 p.m.

The officer and the motorcycle drove into the crowd on the parade route at Palm Canyon Drive and Amado Road.

Officials report that 10 people were injured, some with serious injuries, while one person died.

Eyewitnesses said there was complete chaos. The parade has since been stopped.
