The four US-based women, who call themselves @4friendsover40, took to TikTok to share their biggest parenting regrets.
The mothers explained that their goal was to share their mistakes so that others could “learn a bit from us.”
First it was Erin, who referred to his problem as a ‘silly’. Her advice was ‘make sure you don’t do too much for her children’.
She explained: ‘I think because I was a little girl and had a working mother, I always did everything by myself.
‘He was quite self-sufficient. He could cook something; He could figure things out.
But Erin explained that because she was able to work from home when her children were young, she took a different approach.
She said: “I’ve always done almost everything for them and so I think maybe they’re not very self-sufficient.” I think I probably did too much in the way of cooking or laundry.
‘My mom used to say, “Brown some taco meat before I get home.” I think if I tell my son to brown some taco meat, she’ll be like, “What are you talking about?”
Terryl explained her advice next, which was to try to be patient when your children are younger.

The ‘refreshing’ video covered a range of topics, from being impatient to doing too much to help your kids.
She explained that she felt like she lost her temper too often when her children were young.
Terryl recalled a memory of her daughter looking forward to school pictures in first grade, but she lost all patience and told her to get in the car.
But now he believes that acting like this makes everything “worse” and “causes a lot of stress and frustration for everyone.”
Sarah wanted to share a guide for parents who have more ‘reserved’ and ‘anxious’ children.
She explained that her oldest daughter is shy and often jumps in during conversations to speak for her.
Now, Sarah realized that this doesn’t work for either of them, so her advice was to let the shy kids speak for themselves.
Lastly, Jenn shared her advice, which was not to drag out rituals with your kids too long because of her own emotions.

Social media users were quick to share their thoughts on the video, with many calling it an inspiration.
She explained that she was determined to make the most of her time with her daughter, knowing that she was not going to have any more children.
Every night she read a book to her daughter and lay next to her in bed, but her daughter now depends on her for sleep.
Jenn mentioned that in the first instance, this formed an emotional connection, but now that a ritual has been created, she can’t do anything else when it comes to 9 o’clock.
The moms further explained their intentions for the video in the caption: ‘We’ve made mistakes and done some things right! We will share! #parentingmistakes #momadvice #adviceforgirls #adviceformoms #4friendsover40 #forallgirls #forourdaughters #genxmoms
