Pilote and stud owner Peter Gesler, 59, and passenger Rachel Whitford, 48, died on Saturday when their Brumby 610 aircraft crashed north of Leigh Creek, in Outback South Australia.

The Queensland duo was on one of the two planes for a sightseeing expedition that had left William Creek at 4 p.m., flew over Lake Eyre, and returned to William Creek to refuel.

Mrs. Whitford posted on Facebook just after they were hit in the remote city of Marree before they planned to take off to Leigh Creek.
