The intense moments were captured by Bhatt, a 61-year-old Mumbai nature photographer in Maharashtra state.

Mr. Bhatt, who has been passionate about nature photography for 15 years, first witnessed the confrontation between the tigresses.

He said: ‘This duel of a young and independent daughter Sultana with her mother Noor, presumably for territory and dominance, will always be etched in my memory.

“Contrary to what I have always observed on my countless journeys in the wild, where I have always seen the mother bobbing on her boy and protecting them, this time I experienced something that left me spellbound!

Sultana began to sneak up on the mother from behind.

“Noor was oblivious to her daughter crawling behind her and crawling toward us on a narrow path.

“In a flash, Sultana shot at her unsuspecting mother, and a meeting that lasted about 20 seconds followed and left us in awe! I still hear the grunt every time I think about this meeting.

Fortunately, the feral cats were unharmed at the meeting after the mother surrendered and walked out gently.
