Mother spends only nine days transforming an old caravan into a spectacular craftroom

A smart mom of two turned a vintage caravan into a spectacular space for arts and crafts after spending just nine days renovating.

Carmen Blanch, of Gloucester on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, decided to create the ultimate craftvan in her garden – complete with a sewing table, stationery wall and sitting area with beautiful mountain views.

After taking off all the old cabinets, the DIY renovation queen revamped the dilapidated trailer with fresh paint, modern decor, and second-hand furniture.

The mom said she initially had plans to convert the derelict vehicle into a motorhome for their family of four so they could start traveling.

“I bought this caravan to renovate as our travel van, but my husband thought I was crazy and didn’t want to take a job,” Blanch told Daily Mail Australia.

And so she decided to move her existing craft room from her home to the caravan.

“I had turned our office space in our house into a craft room. So I decided to renovate the caravan to make it my hobby room so I can have the office back, ”she said.

During the nine-day makeover, the mother stripped the interior, removed the old cabinets, and repaired the holes in the walls.

“I just removed the existing cabinets and repaired and repaired some holes. Added my cutting and work table and my sofa, ”she said.

“I started doing the outside of the van because it was an eyesore in the yard and I can’t look at it, especially when I’m sitting in the sink,” she said.

Ms Blanch – who documents her incredible projects on The do-it-yourself junkie – said she managed to save a fortune because she already owned most of her furniture and decor.

“I have all the existing materials, so it didn’t cost me much. I just transferred everything from my hobby room to the van. I recently spent $ 49 on a Spotlight mint trolley to add there, ”she said.

“It’ll be nice if I have to buy everything that’s in it. But most of my items I got from Kmart, Spotlight, Target and Bunnings. I also bought second-hand furniture and did something about it. ‘

She said her favorite features of the van are the ‘bench seat’ with windows overlooking her beautiful garden, cows and mountains.

“I drink my coffee there every day when I’m at home or just want to chill out when I’m not tinkering, because it has beautiful mountain and garden views,” she said.

For those eager to renovate a space on a budget, Ms. Blanch said, “Have patience and dedication.”

She said that if you don’t know where to start, she recommended renovating the exterior first.

“If I took another van renovation, I would definitely start from the outside and work inward,” she said.
